Bukiwaza will be the first class and will continue along the lines we have been working the last couple of years. suburi simple awase and complex awase (Kumitachi and kumijo).
Taijutsu will spread out a bit wider in scope from the focus on atemi and jiyu waza we have had in the last year. The taijutsu section will explore an area from the following:
- Atemi
- Advanced areas of waza such as ushiro waza, kokyu nage and koshi nage.
- Advanced levels such as henka (variations), oyo (applied), taninzugake (multiple attackers) and kaeshi waza (counter techniques), jiyu waza (free style).
These areas are important for the seniors (particularly the dan grades) to have understanding and ability with, as they are part of the curriculum of Takemusu Aikido. Regular classes
during the week have as their primary focus kihon waza (as they should) so these aspects need to be addressed more in these classes.
Jiyu keiko. (free training). This will be the last part of the class (one and quarter hours). Dan ranks will work separately from kyu ranks.
In this part of the class individual participants choose themselves what they would like to work on.
It can be anything from the previous sessions, it can be solo work or partner work, it can be basic or advanced. I will circulate and help as needed.
This will also be where preparation for tests (2nd kyu and above) will also be done.
As I have done previously, before each seniors class an email will be sent out to the group detailing what I will be covering in the first two sections (so you can come prepared).
In the jiyu keiko you should come with something that you want to practice or question yourself.
